Abstract

This paper is framed by a collective project for research on the conditions of the rise of the "new left" in Argentina, during the 1960s. It offers an examination of a radical union experience: the CGT "de los argentinos", created in 1968. The article reconstructs the historic plot of the rise of the CGT, during the military government of the "Revolution Argentina". The paper analyzes the building of a pluralist trade unionism, anti-bureaucratic and decentralized; it investigates the contents of its anti-imperialist critic to the economic structures of Argentina; it describes its participation in social and political fights against the military regime, like the Cordobazo; it assess its strategy of alliances with the student movement, middle class, professionals and intellectuals and it points the obstacles and challenges that besieged and disintegrated the organization.
