Abstract

This paper aims at providing a general outlook on the different perspectives that the Bolivian historiography of the 20th and 21st century have had on the analysis of the 19th century. This contribution is based on the book  De la fundación de la República (1825) al Centenario (1925), the fourth volumeof the collection  Bolivia, su historia  (2015). We analyze the general interpretations proposed in different historical periods in relation to different facts and actors of the 19th century. Four topics have been analyzed: breaks and continuities between the Colonial and Republican period; political instability; the reasons behind economic stagnation; regionalism.
